[ back to team ]

Nate Gordon is the Director of Operations at Kognitiv Edge.  He ensures processes and policy are aligned with the company’s strategic goals while also acting as the conduit between the technical team and the clients we serve, ensuring operationally relevant product development paths.  His intensity and passion for purpose were born and developed through a surreal hero’s journey, which includes a 20-year distinguished career within the ranks of the most elite warriors on earth; the United States Marine Corps’ Reconnaissance Community and the Marine Special Operations Command’s (MARSOC) Raiders.

During his military service, Nate deployed six times, across the globe, to fight the Global War on Terror. His many awards include the Bronze Star, with Valor and Purple Heart for wounds sustained in Afghanistan.  Nate developed a passion for data-driven decision making when he became the very first instructor at MARSOC’s Assessment and Selection who was subjected to the rigors of the selection process and, subsequently, unanimously selected by a board of senior MARSOC leaders in 2008. Following his selection and assignment, he dove into the analytical process which formed and developed his scientific approach towards human behavior, performance, and selection; working with psychologists and technical experts to design and implement operational elements of the course that were tightly nested within MARSOC’s data collection and selection strategies.  Fusing these disciplines, to create an operationally relevant product, became a passion that would inform his management strategies as he rose through the senior ranks of MARSOC.  He capped his exceptional career with a five-year assignment at the prestigious United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, where he managed one of the most complex and critical academic institutions within the SOCOM enterprise.

As he transitioned from military to civilian life, Nate was intent on maintaining a sense of service through his work, spending one year as a teacher within the public and private school systems, teaching multiple subjects to children from second grade through high school seniors.  Upon reuniting with his old friend and Marine veteran, Tyler, and discovery of his work, Nate became inspired to jump in, headfirst, to Kognitiv Edge’s mission to harness innovation to positively transform lives and use his unique talents to give back to the communities that gave so much to him throughout his career.

While still active duty, Nate earned a BS in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis from Norwich University. When Nate is not grinding behind a keyboard or interfacing with our clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and adventuring with his fiancé and their two “dog babies,” Oscar and Charlie.  He is a certified Yoga instructor and believes hard work should be balanced by hard play.  He is a “foodie” and loves to entertain friends and family with seasonal, home-cooked dishes.  He values, appreciates, and is restored by nature-based activities and conservation.
